About Ora

Ora G. Walters is a skilled broadcast technical director and motion designer with a passion for live event production and video broadcasting.

She began her career as a video apprentice at the Digital Corps and later worked as a camera operator for ESPN3/Cardinal Vision. Previously employed as a Technical Director with KCCI, a Hearst Television station in Des Moines, Iowa, where she oversaw the technical aspects of live broadcasts with exceptional skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to quality that made her a respected member of the KCCI team. In 2023, Ora joined Northern News Now as a Technical Media Producer. This involved not just broadcast direction, but master control, photography, and video editing as well. She didn’t limit her work to assigned duties, but shared her love to go above and beyond. As the station was transitioning from Ross Xpression to Chyron Prime, Ora jumped in to assist smoothing out any issues in the setup, train newsroom coworkers, and create station-specific graphics templates hand-in-hand with Gray Media’s design team.

When News 3 Now in Madison, WI needed an experienced director and operator they were excited to bring Ora on. While they were glad she could quickly step in on some of the most-watched newscasts, her technical ability also immediately useful. In downtime between responsibilities, she automated many data-entry related tasks giving journalists and meteorologists more time to focus on the actual content of newscasts. This automation included replacing vendor software with programs written by Ora, meaning the productity boost came with cost reduction. As the software is fully developed, she’s looking into bringing these savings to other Morgan Murphy Media station.
